As a team we were supposed to be aggressive. Look after our sprinter Mirjam for the points laps, and try to put the others under pressure... Unfortunately the sprints were too fast for Mirijams legs today, and others of us went on the attack. Karina and kristen got a break started early into the race with Andrea Wolfer, from Bigla. Then I attacked and got in a break with Sarah and Andrea Thürig from bigla. I worked the break hard really motivated for it to work, but after several pals we were pulled back. I was dead and it took me a really, really long to recover, and at important parts in the race I wasn't able to really contribute. Finally I started to revive and one lap before one of the last points sprint I attacked chasing Serina Traxel, Bigla who was about 15 bike lengths ahead of the group. I flew past her, and kept on going. When I attacked I wasn't actually thinking about the points but more that we needed to keep the pressure on, but after half a lap I realized I was going for some points. Unfortunately I was caught on the line and only ended up with 2 pts that time, but in addition to the points I got while in the break I had enough to get 9th over all.
Overall the race was a bit disappointing. Several girls from our team had a few points but no one had a lot of points and no one was on the podium. I think we were way to spread out with too many ideas. We wanted a bit of this a bit of that, but nothing with authority! We know what our work is for next time!!!
After the crit I rode the 70km or so back to Zürich with my team mate Kristen and Joanne Kiesanowski. It was such a beautiful day, about twice as warm as it normally is here. The view of the alps we had was indescribable! I love Switzerland!
